Conference on Theory and Practice of Citizen Participation

The Rafael del Riego Chair of Good Governance and the national research project ‘The challenges of artificial intelligence for the social and democratic rule of law’ (PID2022-136548NB-I00), whose principal investigator is Professor Miguel Ángel Presno Linera, are organising the conference Theory and practice of citizen participation: Special Attention to Technological Factors, which will take place on Thursday, 6 November, starting at 10:00 a.m. in the Rector Alas Lecture Hall of the Historic Building.
The conference will be opened by Ms Nuria Rodríguez López, Director General of Citizen Participation, Transparency, Sexual Diversity and LGTBI for the Government of the Principality of Asturias.
The conference will begin with a round table discussion on the theory and practice of different regional laws on citizen participation, which will be moderated by Daniel Jove Villares (Assistant Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Oviedo) and featuring Juan Francisco Sánchez Barrilao (Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Granada) and Ana Etxaleku Castaño (Head of the Citizen Participation and Volunteering Section of the Government of Navarra).
Next, Rafael Rubio Núñez (Professor of Constitutional Law at the Complutense University of Madrid) will give a lecture entitled ‘Opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence in political participation processes’, which will be introduced by Miguel Presno Linera (Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Oviedo).
The conference will be closed by Abel Arias Castaño, Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Oviedo and Director of the Rafael del Riego Chair.
