TALKS
Chair Rafael del Riego

In line with the Rafael del Riego Chair’s aim to contribute to dialogue within the academic community, as well as among Spanish and international citizens interested in the principles and dynamics of the Open Government model, this section seeks to create a space in which academics, researchers, and professionals can share their concerns, reflections, and experiences on the many and varied aspects that make up Open Government: institutional transparency, citizen participation, accountability, and public ethics.

The conferences, seminars and specialised workshops organised in Oviedo around the Rafael del Riego Chair are unique opportunities to meet face to face with leading voices in the field, who, with their experience and knowledge, contribute significantly to clarifying and broadening the academic and social debate. Sometimes our guests’ busy schedules do not allow us to digitally document their visits, but when possible, we would like to create a small digital archive that anyone interested in these areas can access later and view the content generated at these meetings.

This section takes the form of regular video posts in which guests share their current lines of research, projects under development and their perspectives on the major challenges facing Open Government through informal conversations. We believe that the interview format, which is a departure from traditional academic discourse, facilitates a more dynamic and intimate exchange, allowing viewers to discover both the experts’ areas of work and their motivations.

We trust that the conversations presented here will gradually sketch out a modest map of the most pressing and relevant issues fuelling the contemporary debate on Open Government, as well as the trends that could shape its future evolution. We invite anyone to send us their questions, proposals or comments that could be addressed in future recordings or meetings, thus ensuring that the section is a lively and pluralistic reflection of collective concerns. We do so in the conviction that only through open dialogue and collaborative work, that is, by reviving conversations, can we advance in our understanding and transformation of Open Government for the benefit of a more inclusive and transparent democracy.
