SUMMARY:Conference on Theory and Practice of Citizen Participation
DESCRIPTION:DATE: 6th NOVEMBER. 10 am \n\n\n\nThe Rafael del Riego Chair of Good Governance and the national research project ‘The challenges of artificial intelligence for the social and democratic rule of law’ (PID2022-136548NB-I00)\, whose principal investigator is Professor Miguel Ángel Presno Linera\, are organising the conference Theory and practice of citizen participation: Special Attention to Technological Factors\, which will take place on Thursday\, 6 November\, starting at 10:00 a.m. in the Rector Alas Lecture Hall of the Historic Building.  \n\n\n\nThe conference will be opened by Ms Nuria Rodríguez López\, Director General of Citizen Participation\, Transparency\, Sexual Diversity and LGTBI for the Government of the Principality of Asturias.  \n\nThe conference will begin with a round table discussion on the theory and practice of different regional laws on citizen participation\, which will be moderated by Daniel Jove Villares (Assistant Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Oviedo) and featuring Juan Francisco Sánchez Barrilao (Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Granada) and Ana Etxaleku Castaño (Head of the Citizen Participation and Volunteering Section of the Government of Navarra). \n\nNext\, Rafael Rubio Núñez (Professor of Constitutional Law at the Complutense University of Madrid) will give a lecture entitled ‘Opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence in political participation processes’\, which will be introduced by Miguel Presno Linera (Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Oviedo).  \n\nThe conference will be closed by Abel Arias Castaño\, Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Oviedo and Director of the Rafael del Riego Chair.   \n\n\n\n\n\nDOWNLOAD POSTER – PROGRAMME \n\n\n\nORGANIZED BY\n\nVENUE

DESCRIPTION:Lecture by María Luisa Segoviano\n\n\n\n\nOn 11 December\, in the Historic Building of the University of Oviedo\, María Luisa Segoviano\, Magistrate of the Constitutional Court\, gave a conference on ‘Equality and Social Freedoms’ in which she explained and presented\, based on the analysis of specific cases\, the most important current jurisprudence of the Constitutional Court on issues such as the content and limits of freedom of expression or video-surveillance in work spaces and labour relations. The conference also addressed the issue of non-discrimination on the grounds of birth which\, in relation to single-parent families and their childcare leave\, is addressed by the very recent STC 140/2024\, of 6 November. Verónica Cañal (Director of the Chairs Area of the Vice-rectorate for Transfer)\, Nuria Rodríguez López (Director General of Transparency and Participation of the Government of the Principality of Asturias)\, Paz Menéndez Sebastián (Professor of Labour Law and Director of the Equality Office of the University of Oviedo) and Alejandra Boto Álvarez (Lawyer of the Constitutional Court) also participated in the activity\, presenting and contextualising the lecturer’s intervention.    \n\n+ Information and programme of the Conference ‘Equality and Social Freedoms’
